Iron + Fork was born from my love of food and the many influences that have shaped who I am. As a first-generation Canadian, born and raised in Toronto by a Jamaican immigrant mother, I grew up surrounded by the warmth, creativity, and cultural richness that make this city so special. My sandwiches bring together flavours inspired by Jamaica, Asia, and Canada, including the maple flavours I grew up loving. They reflect my Jamaican-Canadian identity, my love of Thai food, and Toronto’s vibrant multicultural spirit.
Food has always been deeply connected to my family and the people I love. My mother was an incredible cook, and my late partner, who died by suicide, was a chef. Iron + Fork is my way of paying tribute to them, to the role food has played throughout my life, and to the city that continues to inspire me every day.
Before starting Iron + Fork, I spent ten years working as a Mental Health and Addictions Support Worker. That experience continues to shape my belief in the importance of connection, care, and creating moments that bring people together. Through this company, I hope to share food that feels welcoming, meaningful, and made to be enjoyed.
